Class Description

Learning a discipline such as Capoeira at an early age is invaluable for any child. This unique martial art develops discipline, coordination, strength, and rhythm, while the group setting emphasizes social skills, communication and respect for others. Kids are learning strategizing skills and creative self-expression in a positive and fun environment. Classes are divided by age (5-8, 9-12) and in each class students progress through kicks, evasions and acrobatic movements. They also learn to play all Capoeira instruments (percussion and a stringed instrument called ‘berimbau’), as well as singing and speaking in Portuguese. All skills learned in the class are applied in the roda (a circle of players who take turns playing two at a time in the center.)

...We were so happy we got involved with this foundation. Mauricio Campos is so caring and enthusiastic about what he does. The instructors are really fun, and great with the kids. We always have a great feeling when we are at capoeira and the Brazilian Arts Foundation.
