Class Description
Samba is the national dance and sound of Brazil. Most often people think of Carnaval, but Samba takes on many forms and a variety of
rhythms specific to certain regions of Brazil. Our classes provide lessons in a variety of Samba styles from all over Brazil, such as
Samba Reggae, Samba de Roda, Carnaval-style Samba Enredo and Pagode. In addition to Samba rhythms, Afro-Brazilian movements and styles
are introduced, as well as more traditional dances like Afoxe and Puxada de Rede. Students of all levels learn new choreography each
week and develop endurance, coordination and musicality.

Testimonials

My coworker invited me to the Brazilian Arts Foundation, promising me a fun workout to the beat of samba.
She was right! I stood in the back of the room, taking a stab at the step-ball-change and completely amazed on how the regulars were able to move so well. After
my first class, I was not ready to give up on samba and I continued going to class, week after week. Now, close to two years later, dancing samba has become my hobby.
Not only does it help me stay in shape but also, it is fun to experience the Brazilian culture through its music and dancing!
